Work Package 3: Implementation Phase Begins

With the assessment tool completed, the ClimateTeach2025 project has entered its implementation phase. Work Package 3, led by Piri Technology with the support of all partners, runs from June 2026 to March 2027 and covers the design and development of the climate change training programme.

The first activity is a large-scale administration of the final assessment tool with undergraduate students in each partner country, providing the evidence base for the training content. This is followed by expert consultations on the design of the online material and by the definition of the learning outcomes that form the training framework.

The training itself is structured as five modules of approximately 26 hours in total, addressing the three dimensions of climate change awareness: an introduction, basic knowledge on climate change, emotional reactions, eco-friendly behaviour, and a closing module on summary and evaluation. Content is being developed by the partners according to their fields of expertise, while Piri Technology prepares the storyboards and integrates the material into the learning platform.

All digital learning materials will be delivered through the project’s online learning platform at lms.climateteach.org, supported by interactive content designed to keep students engaged throughout the training. Alongside the platform, the work package will produce a student handbook and a practitioner handbook explaining how the training and the assessment tool are to be used.

Climate Change Awareness Assessment Tool Finalised

Work Package 2 of the ClimateTeach2025 project has been completed with the finalisation of the Climate Change Awareness Assessment Tool, a multidimensional instrument developed and validated across four European countries.

The development process started from a gap identified in the literature: climate change awareness has most often been measured as a single dimension focused on factual knowledge, leaving emotional and behavioural aspects aside. Following a needs analysis, the project team designed a tool covering three interrelated domains — knowledge, emotion and behaviour — as a five-point Likert scale.

Experts in climate change and psychological well-being from each partner country drafted items for every dimension and refined them in a joint online panel, producing an initial pool of 84 items. External experts who were not part of the project team then evaluated each item for relevance and clarity, reducing the pool to 60 items.

The 60-item form was piloted face to face with 25 students in Türkiye, 20 in Austria, 20 in Finland and 25 in Romania. Austria and Finland used the original English form, while Turkish and Romanian versions were produced through cross-cultural translation and expert verification. Student feedback on unclear items led to a refined 52-item form for the main validity and reliability study.

Data were collected online from university students in all four partner countries; after the removal of outliers, analyses were carried out on 737 participants with a mean age of 22.88. Exploratory factor analysis confirmed a three-factor structure explaining 62.59% of the total variance (KMO = .927), resulting in a final 21-item scale with 8 knowledge, 8 emotion and 5 behaviour items. Reliability coefficients were high across the board, with a Cronbach’s alpha of .902 for the overall scale.

The accompanying report, prepared as a practical guide to the administration of the tool, will be published in English with annexes in Turkish, Romanian and German.

Second Transnational Project Meeting Held in Vienna

The second Transnational Project Meeting (TPM2) of the ClimateTeach2025 project was held on 25 June 2026 in Vienna, Austria, bringing together representatives of all five partner organisations from Türkiye, Austria, Romania and Finland.

The meeting opened with a progress review led by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, covering the achievements recorded since the kick-off meeting. Partners confirmed that Work Package 2 has been successfully completed and that the project now has a valid and reliable Climate Change Awareness Assessment Tool at its disposal.

The morning session continued with a detailed presentation of the assessment tool development process, including the statistical analyses behind the final item set, and with the dissemination strategy led by Polygonal North. Partners agreed on common guidelines for social media activity and for recording dissemination outputs on the shared tracking sheet.

In the afternoon, Webster Vienna presented the Quality and Monitoring Plan, with the first quality report covering the initial twelve months of the project scheduled for September. The session closed with Work Package 3, led by Piri Technology, which officially starts the design and development of the climate change training programme. Partners reviewed the module structure, the online learning platform and the proposed task distribution among partners.

The meeting concluded with agreements on the immediate next steps: student recruitment, expert identification, data collection and the distribution of common implementation guidelines and reporting templates. The next online meeting was scheduled for 15 July 2026, with the third transnational meeting to be hosted in Romania between 24 and 28 May 2027 and a further meeting in Finland in September 2027.

ClimaTeach Project Kick-Off Meeting Held in Kırşehir

The first Transnational Project Meeting (TPM1) of the ClimateTeach2025 project, funded by the European Union, was successfully held on 20–21 November 2025, hosted by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University. The meeting brought together all project partners, including UNIBUC from Romania, Polygonal North from Finland, the partner institution from Austria, PiriTeknoloji from Türkiye, and the coordinating institution, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University.

During the two-day meeting, partners reviewed the overall aims of the project, work packages, timeline, and expected outcomes. Comprehensive planning was carried out regarding project management, administrative and financial procedures, communication mechanisms, quality assurance strategies, Gantt chart tasks, and budget management. In addition, responsibilities and the timeline for WP2 – Developing the Climate Change Awareness Assessment Tool were clarified.

The meeting also focused on the dissemination plan, social media strategy, promotional materials, and the development of the project website and communication channels. The partners also agreed on holding the second TPM in Vienna.

TPM1 concluded with a certificate ceremony and social activities with the participation of all partners. The ClimaTeach project aims to develop innovative, digital, and AR-supported educational models to enhance university students’ climate change awareness, sense of responsibility, and psychological well-being.
